FA appeal fails, division reinstated, ECFA culpable

Jim Woolley and Peter Turner attended an FA hearing at Wembley on Friday 30th March and sent out an email to all the teams in the league.  This states that the following occured:
  • The £1000 fine has been increased to £1250
  • Costs were awarded against the league to the sum of £500
  • The Senior Division has been reinstated with immediate effect

So any hopes that the FA would have seen sense have disappeared.  These "guardians of our national game" contrive to serve their own interests again and back up their cronies in the ECFA.  It appears that all this amounted to was a free 5 course lunch for the fatcat FA; a no cost spared day out paid for with OUR clubs money.

Self serving
We are told time and time again that the FA wants people to play football and to do this in the right way.  Yet it seems that they are all talk.  The ECFA have no real incentive to implement a respect programme when who are the beneficiaries from bad discipline? The ECFA!  Could the ECFA live without the fine money that ill-discipline brings?  No.  There is no way that the turkey is going to vote for Christmas.

The ECFA is not interested in Respect.

Lack of guidance
As I understand the ECFA have given our league no guidance on what to do with this situation and will continue to misrepresent us (and all leagues in Essex) whilst they remain the main beneficiaries.  This situation that Phil Sammons has carefully mismanaged could mean that if he plays his cards right then he can continue to protect his nice revenue stream.

The ECFA is not fit for purpose.

Most importantly: what does that mean for the clubs in the league?
Well, personally, I believe that we are going to find it very hard to find anyone that wants to play in this league whilst the ECFA threaten us with punitive fines and suspensions.  So far we have seen many league volunteers fall by the wayside as we try to struggle on against the ECFA.  Will anyone want to stand as league officers and join the management committee next season, to give up their time and effort in order to take a kicking from the oppressive ECFA?  I can't see it.

If the league cannot run next season then Phil Sammons will have cooked the goose that laid the golden eggs.
